Independent Field Trials

Confidence through independent science
Independent field validation of biological seed coatings in Western Australian wheat — building confidence through independent science.
At Crommelin AgriCoatings, we believe that innovative technologies must be supported by independent, high-quality field research before they are widely adopted by Australian growers.
Partnership with Elemental Enzymes
In 2025, Crommelin AgriCoatings partnered with Elemental Enzymes Australia to evaluate the agronomic performance of advanced biological fertiliser coating technologies under Western Australian farming conditions. The research is being independently conducted by SLR, one of Western Australia’s leading contract research organisations, as part of a larger Council of Grain Grower Organisations (COGGO) funded project investigating emerging biological crop growth enhancers across the WA grainbelt.
The trials are being undertaken at two wheatbelt locations representing different soil types and seasonal environments, providing valuable information on how biological fertiliser coatings perform under real commercial farming conditions.
Why Independent Trials Matter
The biological agriculture market is expanding rapidly, with new products entering the market every year. While many products demonstrate promise under controlled conditions, growers need confidence that they deliver consistent value in the paddock. Independent field trials provide:
- unbiased assessment of product performance
- evaluation across realistic farming systems
- scientifically designed experiments with replicated treatments
- statistically robust data for decision making
- confidence for growers, agronomists and distribution partners
Independent validation helps separate products that consistently improve crop performance from those that may only perform under specific conditions. For growers, independent data reduces risk when investing in new technologies. For agronomists, it provides trusted evidence to support recommendations.

The Crommelin–Elemental Enzymes Partnership
Elemental Enzymes is recognised internationally for developing innovative biological technologies that improve crop establishment, nutrient use efficiency and plant resilience. Crommelin AgriCoatings combines these biological technologies with its advanced fertiliser coating expertise to deliver formulations that maximise product stability, handling, granule coverage and performance.
Together, the partnership aims to ensure biological actives reach the field in an effective, practical and commercially scalable form suitable for Australian broadacre agriculture.
Independent Evaluation by SLR
SLR has extensive experience conducting independent research across Western Australia’s grain growing regions, specialising in biological products, crop nutrition and sustainable production systems. Within the COGGO-funded project, SLR is assessing biological crop enhancement technologies using replicated field experiments under commercial farming conditions.
The Crommelin AgriCoatings and Elemental Enzymes treatments are being evaluated alongside other emerging biological technologies to generate independent performance data across varying seasonal conditions. Measurements include crop establishment, early vigour, plant development, biomass production, grain yield and grain quality.

Supporting Evidence-Based Adoption.
New agricultural technologies achieve widespread adoption only when supported by credible evidence. As trial results become available, they will provide growers and industry with transparent, evidence-based information to support confident adoption of biological fertiliser coating technologies. Our commitment is simple: delivering confidence from the laboratory to the paddock.
